This concert at Government House Sydney imagined what Sydney locals are likely to have heard at public concerts during the time frame of 1830-1850. Incorporating a reconstructed fishing song, sung in the Darug dalang and written down in the early 1790s, alongside orchestral works, a vocal quartet, folk ensemble, and Ngarigu singers of songs from the Monaro plains written down in the 1840s, we re-hear music on a historic site in our time: the old, reimagined, to inform the present.
